About

The Marine Science Graduate Student Organization (MSGSO) strives to help graduate students develop skills and become closer through research collaboration, community outreach events, and social activities. We have events throughout the year at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi and the surrounding Corpus Christi area.

MSGSO's Annual Research Forum provides a outlet for undergraduate and graduate students to network and see what type of research is going on in South Texas and the Gulf. The forum also provides students with a chance to develop presentation skills and get feedback from faculty at any stage of their academic career. With growing attendance, MSGSO will be extending the forum to two days for the first time this year! We will also be opening up presentations to high school students to hopefully encourage their future education in marine science fields.

The Forum provides 3 types of presentation formats:
- Short oral (4-minute talk, 1 minute for questions): Students who are just getting started on their research may choose the short oral presentation to introduce their research topics, objectives, or methods. This is a great way to network and get feedback!

- Long oral (12-minute talk, 3 minutes for questions): Students may choose the long oral presentation format to present their findings, and/or practice for upcoming scientific meetings and conferences.

- Poster presentations: A limited number of spaces will be available for poster presentations on a first-come, first-serve basis.  (note: printing costs are the responsibility of the presenter, we are currently finding a way to provide high school students with help in printing posters) Students are welcome to use posters presented at past meetings/conferences.
